Message you "think" about it another day, go to autobody101.com/the body & paint forum/and read and ask those guys lots of questions. It's not as cheap as you think it might be. You have to use "paint systems" i.e. chemicals from the same manufacture(PPG). Cherry Red Pearl is about $120.00 per quart. Add the cost of Base coat reducers/hardners/epoxy primer & it's hardner, clear coat & it's hardner, not to mention sandpaper/sandpaper blocks/gun cleaner....bla bla bla. You will easily spend $1500 - $2000 just on supplies. Now, factor in technique/experience, which you have none, and I would bet the idea of painting your own car, just faded a bit.
